Welcome to Ballet Theatre Ireland, College of Dance. Where we set the standard others follow.

Ballet Theatre Ireland welcomes pupils from ages 3 years and upwards: all abilities, boys & girls.

All classes are taught by the director with over 35 years experience. The great advantage of this is that talent can be spotted at an early age and can then be nurtured and guided towards a professional career. All students are taught to the highest standards. The school has an excellent exam record with students gaining excellent results.

About Us

“What sets us apart from other dance schools is our track record”

The director Mary Gibson has over 35 years experience, and teaches all the ballet classes to maintain the very high professional standards of the school. Past students have gone on for futher professional training at the renouned Royal Ballet School London; Amsterdam Dance Academy & London Dance Studios, others are also teaching world-wide.

Mary started her dance training with the late Joan Denise Moriarty, she then went on to become the schools senior teacher for many years, during which time one of her responsibilities was to train the students of the Irish National Ballet while the company was away at tour.

She then moved to Amsterdam, Holland where she stayed for many years teaching in various full-time prefessional state schools.

On her return to Ireland Mary opened her own schools throughout Cork City and county along with opening a full-time course to train dancers and teachers. Each summer Mary ran a school bringing teachers from Russia; Holland; Hungary; Sweden and England.

In the 90s Mary secured grants from the arts council, which allowed six Irish students attend the Vaganava Summer School in St. Petersburg, Russia.

She later attended The Vaganava Summer School herself and while there, invited the school itself to perform at The Cork Opera House. Sixty dancers along with teachers and directors were invited for the schools first ever visit to Ireland.

Mary has also taught as a guest teacher at summer schools in Norway; Greece; Japan; Northern Ireland; England and America.

With all this accumulated knowledge and experience, Mary brings to her students the very best of dance training and is a dedicated teacher.
